For many families, supplements feel routine.

They sit in kitchen cabinets, on countertops, or in bags, often within reach. You trust that if a product is sold, especially something health-related, it meets basic safety standards.

That assumption is now being challenged.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recently announced a recall involving multiple iron-containing dietary supplements manufactured by Vitaquest International, including bottles and packets that failed to meet mandatory child-resistant packaging requirements.

These are not obscure products. They include widely distributed supplements, such as multivitamins and prenatal products sold across the country.

The risk is not minor. For young children, iron poisoning can be life-threatening.

If your household uses supplements, this is not something to ignore.

If your child has been harmed or exposed to a dangerous product, it is important to understand your legal options. Anapol Weiss represents families in product liability cases involving unsafe consumer products. Contact our firm to discuss your situation.

Iron Supplement Recall: What Products Are Affected And Why?

The recall involves approximately 356,140 iron-containing dietary supplement bottles and packets produced by Vitaquest International LLC of West Caldwell, New Jersey. The recall was announced April 9, 2026, and covers products sold under the following brand names:

  • Arey — Not Today, Grey (60ct and 180ct)
  • Bari Life — Complete Bariatric Vitamin Formula, Watermelon (60ct)
  • Bird&Be — The Prenatal Essentials for Females (30 pkts); The Power Prenatal for Females (30 pkts); The Power Prenatal for Females + CoQ10 Boost (30 pkts); Female Fertility Power Prenatal Pack (30 pkts); Complete Prenatal Pack (30 pkts); Female Fertility Power Prenatal + CoQ10 Pack (30 pkts)
  • Biote — Nutraceutical Iron+ (30ct)
  • Dr. Fuhrman — Gentle Prenatal Multivitamin + D3 (120ct); Pixie Vites Children's Multivitamin (120ct)
  • NuLife — Advanced Bariatrics Multivitamin Chewable Tablets (60ct)
  • HMR — Multi Daily Vitamin and Mineral Supplement (60ct)
  • Bariatric Pal — Ultra Multi Bariatric Multivitamin (90ct)
  • Noevir — Inner Care Premium BioEssentials (120ct)
  • Zenbean — Kids Café Instant Coffee + Nutrition Latte in Original, Caramel, Chocolate, and Vanilla (30 srv)
  • Sakara — The Foundation (30 pkts); The Foundation: Prenatal (30 pkts)

These products were sold between April 2023 and February 2026, ranging in price from $13 to $130. They were available at the following retailers and platforms:

  • Credo Beauty
  • Erewhon
  • Healf
  • Nutrition World
  • The Vitamin Shoppe
  • Fullscript
  • Ulta Beauty (stores nationwide)
  • Medical practitioners' offices
  • Each brand's own website
  • Amazon.com

Notably, several of these products are prenatal or children's vitamins, making the packaging failure particularly alarming, as they are marketed to and used in households with young children.

The issue is not the ingredient itself, but the packaging. These products did not include child-resistant caps or closures as required by the federal Poison Prevention Packaging Act, posing a serious poisoning risk if accessed by young children. No injuries have been reported, but consumers should act immediately.

What to do: Consumers should store affected supplements out of sight and reach of children and contact Vitaquest International for a free child-resistant replacement cap or storage pouch, depending on the product. Vitaquest can be reached toll-free at 844-298-4545 (Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. ET), by email at productsafety@vitaquest.com, or at vitaquest.com/product-recall-information.

Child Poisoning Risk: Why Iron Supplements Are So Dangerous For Children

Iron is essential for adults in proper doses.

But for children, it can be extremely dangerous.

Even small amounts can cause:

  • severe internal injury
  • organ damage
  • life-threatening complications

That is why strict packaging laws exist.

When those protections fail, the risk shifts from manageable to potentially catastrophic.

This type of recall raises serious legal questions.

Manufacturers are required to:

  • follow federal safety standards
  • properly test packaging
  • ensure products are safe before distribution

When they fail to do that, liability may follow.

In cases like this, claims may involve:

  • failure to comply with child-resistant packaging laws
  • inadequate safety testing
  • distribution of unsafe products

These are not minor oversights.

They are preventable failures.

Iron Supplement Recall: Why This Matters Beyond One Product

This recall is part of a larger pattern.

When products reach the market without proper safeguards, it places families at risk without their knowledge.

It also raises important questions:

  • What did the manufacturer know about the risk?
  • When did they know it?
  • Could this have been prevented?

These are the same questions that drive product liability litigation.

Iron Supplement Recall Lawsuit: What Should Families Do Now?

If you have iron supplements at home:

  • check whether they are part of the recall
  • keep them out of reach of children immediately
  • follow recall instructions for replacement or disposal

If exposure or injury may have occurred, seek medical attention right away.

Beyond immediate safety, families should understand that incidents involving defective products may carry legal implications.

When a product fails to meet basic safety standards, the impact goes beyond the recall.

Families deserve answers.
