Overview
We’re a plaintiff-side firm in Center City Philadelphia seeking a Senior Accountant who can assist the Controller on day-to-day accounting entries, monthly close, yearly review, and the implementation of multiple accounting systems (ERP, payroll, HR, time keeping, case management). This role assists with general ledger entries, AR/AP entries, financial reporting, IOLTA/trust compliance, budgeting/forecasting, cash management. Ideal candidates will have prior experience in closing the general ledger on a monthly basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Assists with the monthly close, reconciliations, and GAAP financials (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) with variance analysis.
- Assists with the preparation of daily, weekly monthly KPIs.
- Multiple bank account reconciliation and familiarity of Trust accounting and compliance
- Input Payables, Receivables and application of cash to the general ledger.
- Assist with bi-weekly payroll for 90+ employees
- Assist with the implementation of Accounting Seed with Litify, Payroll HR and time management system.
- Budgeting, forecasting, and cash management
- Assist with building annual budgets by attorney teams and internal departments by matter number and rolling forecasts
- Updates and maintains accounting procedure manual.
- Studies and standardizes accounting procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
- Effectively manages multiples assignments and can re-prioritize based on changing business or department needs
- Manage vendor onboarding, W-9s/1099s, contract terms, and preferred-provider relationships.
- Collaborate with partners, operations, marketing, litigation, and docket leaders to align finance, HR, and case strategy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; law firm experience is a plus.
- Previously responsible for multiple bank reconciliations
- Experience in trust/IOLTA accounting and monthly three-way reconciliations is preferred.
- Strong command of GAAP and internal controls; experience with audits or reviews.
- Hands-on proficiency with accounting software. Familiarity with the following software, Tabs3, Accounting Seed, Litify, ADP Workforce Now.
- Advanced Excel; comfort building dashboards and modeling settlement pipelines across multiple torts.
- High integrity, attention to detail, and urgency under deadlines; clear communication with attorneys, clients, providers, and vendors.
