Representing Women Catastrophically Injured by Transvaginal Mesh Implants

By: Kila Baldwin, Anapol Weiss Shareholder

Excerpt from a conversation with Kila Baldwin, who has secured over $180 million in settlements for women injured by transvaginal mesh implants. Kila is one of the leaders of the Anapol Weiss Women's Health Litigation Team.

I have tried cases for many women who were catastrophically injured by transvaginal mesh. Medical device manufacturers, like Johnson & Johnson, Boston Scientific, Bard, and Coloplast marketed and sold transvaginal mesh for the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse (POP) and stress urinary incontinence (SUI). They told doctors these products were safe, the risks were minimal, and the cure rates were better than traditional surgeries without mesh. This is false.

The evidence has proven that the mesh can and will get infected, forms hard scar tissue around it, and can erode into surrounding tissue and organs, including the bladder, bowel, and vagina. Mesh is not safe in the vaginal cavity, and the mesh manufacturers knew about this when they sold these products.

Anapol Weiss is proud to continue representing women whose lives have been inextricably altered by their mesh implants, and will continue to fight large drug and medical device manufacturers when their products hurt women.

As a female majority-owned and operated firm, we have the unique capacity to understand what women are experiencing and fight for what they deserve.
